Faustina Bargue Drawing - Before Break for the Summer

I was hoping to complete the Faustina Bargue Drawing before I break for the summer but unfortunately, everything was taking longer to render than I anticipated.

Peru Revisited

Has four years passed already?  In May 2006, I spent the month traveling Peru and then hiking the Inca Trail to see Machu Picchu with Mike and Pete.  I took tons of pictures while there with my old Canon S1.  Looking back, the camera picture quality is no where near what a DSLR can capture.  However, I can still use the pics as reference.  I sketched the above image while  playing around with digital brushes.  I’ll try it again later in the summer with real media (graphite, charcoal, chalk).

Procrastinating Sketch

I’m procrastinating on working on my Bargue.  So, instead I experimented with some watercolour digital brushes.  It was difficult to push the darks with this brush.

Here’s the source image.

Baby Kyle Pics

I love using Animoto for these video slideshows.  Here’s a 30 second video slideshow of Kyle and everyone in the hospital room:

Faustina – 2nd Bargue – Progress

I was hoping to have this Bargue finished by next class but it’s looking less likely.  I probably need another 15-20 hours.

Faustina - 2nd Bargue Drawing

I’m slowing working from the bottom up.  The base looks deceptively easy but the rendering is taking forever to complete.

Faustina - 2nd Bargue Drawing - Working my way up!

Worked my way up to the chin and jaw line.  I’ll continue to work on the shadows before I start modeling the lights…
